#nofilter
Found Panoramic Photo, Vellum, Typewriter Ink, Wood, Gold Hooks
32'' x 15''
“#nofilter” was made from a found photo based on an actual class choir event that occurred at the White House. The vellum overlay consisted of a typewritten Twitter news feed composed of content from this event that occurred in 1939, but utilized contemporary language. The title #nofilter is a play on social media ‘hash tag’ trends. #nofilter refers to the Instagram application for photos taken normally that don’t use photo filters. In the case of this piece, the layer of vellum acts as a physical filter over the actual, tangible photograph.
